JOIN OUR DRAGON'S BACK ADVENTURE

We’re excited to announce that our Dragon’s Back Race coaching group will be back for 2024!  We’ll be offering exclusive access to a unique training group which will help you get the most out of your preparation for race day.   It's the perfect way to start your 2024 training with a consistent, strategic and scientific approach.

We offer two tiers of coaching for the Dragon's Back - fully supported, with one-to-one communication and continuous training adjustments, or group coaching, where communications are conducted within webinars and a members-only Whatsapp group.  Both options allow you access to help and feedback from our team of three coaches, as well as monthly webinars with stage racing experts, and the team atmosphere of belonging to a training group!

What's included:

Group coaching (£59/month plus £20 sign-up fee)

-A personalised training program to help you get ready for race day

-Monthly webinars with experts in topics such as nutrition, stage race planning and execution, in-race rehab, troubleshooting, and much more, to help you prepare down to the last detail.

-Online group Q&A sessions with our team of certified ultra-running coaches.

-Access to our private Whatsapp group to share your training questions, ideas and experiences with coaches and fellow runners.

-Training programs will be uploaded once monthly, and we will take into account any scheduling commitments that you detail to us ahead of time.  Training won't be adjusted after it has been uploaded, but we will be on hand to advise should you need to make adjustments to your schedule for any reason.

One-to-one coaching (£129/month)

-All the above benefits included with the group coaching, plus one-to-one communication with a personal coach (via text, email and phone).

-Ongoing adjustments to your training as needed, based on your feedback, recovery levels & changing commitments.

Spaces are limited, and are available on a first come, first served basis.

Group coaching
How it works

We're creating a unique training community for the 2024 Dragon's Back Race!

This group is designed for runners who would like personalised training planning, guidance and support, at a lower cost than one-to-one coaching.  (If you'd like to learn more about one-to-one coaching instead, you can read more here.)  Whether you choose group or one-to-one coaching, you'll also have access to monthly online Q&A sessions with a coach, plus webinars on a whole range of useful topics to get meticulously prepared for your race. Here's how it will work.

Subscribing to the DBR coaching group secures your place for January 2024.  We'll be in touch in December to arrange a phone consultation, so that we can gather all the necessary information to design your plan.  This consultation will centre around your training history and goals for the DBR, as well as available time, training routes, and any other logistical information regarding your usual training routine.

After the initial consultation, we'll get to work designing your program.  We'll also send you a login for a Training Peaks account, if you don't already have one, so that you have access to your training plan wherever you are.  Training Peaks is a platform where you'll be able to see all your upcoming training sessions, upload your run data, and you can also use it to indicate any scheduling considerations such as preferred rest days or days when you can get out into the mountains.

Any questions you have about your plan can be asked in the DBR coaching Whatsapp group, or in one of our live online Q&A sessions.  As an added bonus, we've lined up webinars with experts in nutrition, physiotherapy, and stage racing, to help you prepare every element of your race.  For more information, have a look at our coaching group terms.

testimonials

"The Missing Link Coaching group was one of the most rewarding things I signed up for in preparation for the Dragon's Back. It gave me the confidence to train well, benefit from the expert knowledge from the coaches and learn from others in the group. During the race I grew in confidence throughout the week and realised the training was paying off. I learned so much from them from training and pacing to nutrition and recovery. Anyone considering the race would benefit."

-Dave Jackson, DBR 2nd place finisher, 2022

"Paul has a lot of experience of multi-day events which has meant I have felt confident that I have been meeting targets at the right time over the last year. He has accommodated training when required as he understands the importance of adjusting to other challenges in life. This has meant getting the balance right. Paul has been supportive and offered humorous, no-nonsense guidance along the way.... he has a way with words!  This has made sure I have got the confidence I need going into the event that I have done everything both physically and mentally I can to be successful. I don’t know what I would have done without him!"

-Cat Slater, DBR 3rd place female, 2021

"Great running coaches possess a unique mix of characteristics. They must have personal experience of training, competing and winning at the highest levels. They should also possess a sound understanding of the scientific principles underpinning training and recovery. Perhaps most importantly, they should an understand the art of applying experience and scientific principles to individual athletes, each with their own characteristics, potential and limitations. A one-size-fits-all approach just won’t cut it when it comes to coaching. This ideal mix of experience, knowledge, achievement and skill is rare, but it can be found in Paul Tierney and Sarah McCormack at Missing Link Coaching. I have no reservations in recommending their services to any runner that is serious about reaching their own personal potential."
